Research Assistant Position

In support of the U.S. Korea Institute (USKI) department at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), the Research Assistant will offer research and logistical support to USKI staff and scholars.
The primary duties and responsibilities of the job:Providing research assistance on various USKI projects, including background and issue briefs & memos, news and media tracking, and special assignments to contribute to USKI publications; editing and proofreading USKI publications in the pre-production process which includes formatting, copy editing, and citation formatting and proofreading; providing logistical support for USKI events, including invitation and RSVP management, material preparation, and on-the-ground support; providing general administrative support; and other duties and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in related discipline. Bachelor’s degree in Asian studies, international relations or related area strongly preferred. Some related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Candidate must have superior writing and editing skills and proficiency in both online and offline research methods. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Some project management and event planning experience highly preferred. Bilingual Korean/English capabilities and an understanding of Korea policy or East Asia policy strongly preferred.
