Background:
Dr. Merrill formerly headed the Northeast Asia Division of the Bureau of Intelligence and Research at the US Department of State. He has held teaching and research positions at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Georgetown University, George Washington University, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Lafayette College.
