On November 1, 2011, the Institute of East and West Studies and East Asia Foundation hosted a seminar at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, on nuclear security in the post-Fukushima era. This seminar featuring Kenneth Luongo (President, Partnership for Global Security), discussed what is meant by nuclear security, what is covered by the Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) process, and how the NSS process has evolved from the original meeting in 2010 to the upcoming meeting in 2012. Key issues addressed were the expansion of the NSS agenda to include such issues as radiological source security and the nuclear security-safety interface.

In his presentation, Mr. Luongo also addressed the unique challenges and opportunities Seoul faces as the host of the second NSS, and what the future of the NSS process may be post-2012.
