Kang Jung-Min is a former visiting scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) and a former Science Fellow at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University. Dr. Kang is an expert in nuclear engineering and has years of analytical and technical experience in nuclear fuel cycles, spent fuel management, and nuclear nonproliferation. Previously, Kang served on the Presidential Commission on Sustainable Development established by the South Korean government and on the International Panel on Fissile Materials, a group that analyzes nuclear disarmament programs.
Kang’s research interests include: advanced nuclear fuel cycles, multinational spent-fuel management, and North Korean denuclearization and disarmament. He has published a number of papers on these issues and others in academic journals and in South Korean newspapers and magazines. Dr. Kang holds a B.S. and M.S. in nuclear engineering from Seoul National University and a Ph.D., also in nuclear engineering, from Tokyo University.
